As humans are isolated indoors, Monkeys in a Kenyan hotel are enjoying the non interruption of humans which melt my heart to the core. Since ages we have been visiting animals to zoos watching them in cage or circus but the same I never pondered more than now when the HUMANS are compulsorily asked to stay indoors. Being the most powerful creature on earth with Brains has made Humans so much selfish that it rightfully enjoys encroaching the space (forest), eating them on table & even torturing them to get different materials.
Even few Governments around the world are giving a thought towards the ZOO CULTURE. There even has been debate forums where 68% people voted for ending whereas 32 % didn’t favored the opinion.
“Zoos are prisons for animals, camouflaging their cruelty with conservation claims,” Mimi Bekhechi, director of international programmes at PETA, explains. “Animals in zoos suffer tremendously, both physically and mentally. They often display neurotic behaviour, like repetitive pacing, swaying, and bar biting. Not surprising, perhaps, considering the typical polar bear enclosure is one million times smaller than the area they would naturally roam.”
PETA isn’t alone. In April, ethical tour operator Responsible Travel — after consultation with wildlife charity Born Free Foundation — axed trips that include zoo visits. It’s the first travel company to publicly make such a move.
PETA’s Bekhechi adds, the aim of breeding programmes is just “to produce baby animals to attract visitors.”
Some, however, argue that children benefit from zoos. “We engage huge audiences with wildlife, inspiring the conservationists of tomorrow,” argues zoological director of ZSL London and Whipsnade Zoos, Professor David Field.
